Autumn is here
It begins with brilliant-hued leaves
The smell of wood smoke
And cooler, crisper days leaving a chill in the air.
The early Autumn sun
Creates a shimmering green and gold sea
On Midwestern fields.
The golden sentinel of trees
That line the winding road
Of my path home,
The trees painted in every hue of red and gold,
Become an archway
With a multitude of autumnal colors
Dappled with sunlight
And aching for their beauty to be noticed
And embraced.
Winter is nipping
At Autumn’s heels
The fiery leaves that
Proclaimed the season
Now sadly litter the ground
As so much confetti after a New Year’s bash.
They skitter along the grass and pavement
A frenzied last dance
Before winter’s frost
Puts an end to the festivities.

Many comments to make here – first, this reminds me of my childhood home in New Hampshire. Second, I share your love for autumn, always something magical about the air, I remember. Third, your poetry journey fascinates me! From the sensuality of this scene of autumn to the physical sensuality of your more erotic poetry. Such differences, but both connected to a sensual living that is so appealing. Very nice poem.

Smiles. This is such a lovely comment. I’m so pleased that you are enjoying and chuffed that someone is reading my older pieces. Thank you. I wanted this blog to be many things, not just one, so I hope you are finding that to be so.

Absolutely am finding it so! And happy to getting to a more complete picture of the person behind the writing.
