Siren Whispers

Siren Song

Once more, with feeling

Beginnings,
new dawn breaks
with a whisper. Layers
peeled back like blankets
or the first glimpse of skin
in summer;
winter, a recent memory.
Left hand foraging for comfort …

I’m good, really.

I’m good, really.

Maybe I’m just an outlier in this divorce game

It most definitely is not a game, but for years I wore a game face. I was that person who kept it all bottled inside — the fear, the rage, the sadness, the confusion, the loneliness. But to everyone, I was good. I was fine. To the naked eye a placid lake, yet a churning sea underneath …

No regrets

fullsizeoutput_17a

an end that came too soon

full stop on a sentence

beginnings

a storied introduction

mix of joy and pain

knowledge found in a glance

soul an open book

eyes

reflections of this woman

needs, desires

unknown, unacknowledged

without exploration, risk

a voice would have remained

still

silent

no regrets in chances

taken, a belonging

monotone shadow lived

beneath

cast off

each day painted vivid hues

continue to resonate

Beginnings

They happen in the blink of an eye

The unimportant becomes significant

An image

A response

Grants a second look

There is the heady excitement of first words

Resulting in a lightning attraction

Enticement to say more

To do more

A connection is made

By such slender threads

Silky and sensuous bindings

From him to her

Gentle and yielding

When needed

Yet tighter than rope

And stronger than they ever knew

Each moment shared

A split second memory

Indelible upon the soul

How curious

That something so extraordinary

Is impelled

In the blink of an eye…

Journey in ink

FullSizeRender

My journey began with a single word

spoken to me

Unknowing at the time

a wellspring of verse

bubbled away under my skin

waiting for inspiration

waiting for him

It took hold one moonlit night

Thoughts that took me miles away

to a man

and his own thoughts

and to two flames that burned

Ablaze with a hunger previously restrained

the pages of my soul were on fire

The words that spilled forth that day

blood from my veins

a testament to my feelings, my awareness

of him, of myself

and of an unexplored question

whose answers took root

and have flourished

in my soul

and in my ink

Farewell

photo

A farewell to the old year

A time of growth and awareness

Joy and loss

The new year beckons

With the promise of new day

The tides turning

Presenting new opportunities

And possibilities

That we should grasp

With both hands

A Certain Day

photo

My memories of you

Still so vivid

After all this time

I can remember a certain day

In the beginning

I remember

What was said

What you sent me

How I felt

How I responded

I can remember it

Like it was yesterday

And all of those feelings

Come rushing back

To me
