Inhabited

He finds she lingers
like woodsmoke on a winter’s night.
A scent at once
pleasing
pungent
with memories he pulls close;
remembrance sinking its claws in
deep …

Blackbird Night

IMG_0363

Shall I lose myself in this
blackbird night, lush with silence
and dark thoughts that take root
to bloom in midnight’s garden?

Solitude and reflection,
is a mirror laid upon my cheek
and a sense of belonging is magnified …

Inscrutable

IMG_0361

Have you ever lost yourself in velvet dreams?

Those that blanket the small
hours of the night, cocooned
in everything the mind shutters
while awake.
Dreams
inscrutable in the light of day,
message unread,
a fragment of memory
we ache
to retain …

Unturned stones

‘This window needs cleaning,’ I think to myself.

Silent Saturday morning unfolds
before me.
Autumn makes her presence known,
a haphazard scatter, gold
leaves upon verdant lawn …

Debriefing

She finds herself back
in the game,
equal parts novice
and Mata Hari;
dating, a chess match …

Somewhere in between

IMG_6220

Is it naught but
a foolish notion
seeking to conjure you
out of the mist of memory
and longing, bruised and bittersweet…

Un coeur un hiver

C5351212-2997-49CB-A6AD-C5487FDD2262

We leave our hearts in the snow,
no last goodbyes left
to melt the ice clinging to the edges.
I wonder if is it possible to lose it all —
heart, mind, soul,
in a single breath —
the one you took with that kiss

You are the Poem

photo

You are the poem

Whose metre is in time

To my beating heart

Each word

A tendril

That wraps itself around me

Binding me close

Teardrop

photo

So much pain

Held in a single drop

She tries to be brave

She tries to be strong

But as she feels her core start to crumble

The first of the tears begin to fall
